The Annenberg Space for Photography and explore.org invite you to a live experience of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Pearls of the Planet, a new live cam installation at Skylight Studios, brings visitors deep into the colorful kelp beds of the Channel Island of Anacapa, along the break of Hawaii’s most celebrated waves and across the coastline as far as Alaska. Visitors can step into immersive booths to make eye contact with orcas, join massive gatherings of walrus, get hypnotized by jellyfish and experience the color palette of exotic fish species that paint the coral beds of the world’s largest ocean.
Visitors can also pose in an ocean-inspired photo booth featuring a surfboard set amongst Hawaii’s big waves and share their photographs through social media by tagging #explorepearls on Instagram and Twitter.
The exhibit will honor the heroic work of Mike Prickett, a Pearls of the Planet creative fellow. An innovator in surf cinematography and ocean conservation, Prickett sacrificed his health to save the life of a deep water diver and has documented his road to recovery in a series entitled Reel Life.
