Students all across the region are heading back to school and the Assistance League of Los Angeles (the League) is making sure that underserved youth put their best foot forward to succeed in the school year ahead. Founded in 1919, the League’s programs have provided cultural enrichment opportunities, essential clothing and school supplies for youth, resources for foster children, and even a preschool learning center. These services help children improve their school attendance and academic achievement. Since 1965, the League’s Operation School Bell (OSB) program has provided elementary-age school children in LA Unified School District (LAUSD) with new school clothes, enhancing their self-esteem and increasing their chance to succeed.
