Take Part in StoryCorps’ The Great Thanksgiving Listen

Annenberg Learner is proud to support StoryCorpsThe Great Thanksgiving Listen, a program that encourages students to record interviews with grandparents or other elders over the holiday weekend using the free StoryCorps app. With permission from the participants, each of these interviews will be uploaded to the StoryCorps archive in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Students will learn research, archiving and planning skills, and foster meaningful connections within families, communities and the classroom.

Are you a parent of a high school student? Do you know a high school teacher? Encourage them to join the effort to record the voices of an entire generation, and use #TheGreatListen on Facebook and Twitter to help spread the word before the holiday weekend. You can also contribute by interviewing someone you love with the StoryCorps app, featuring built-in prompts to help you record and publish your interview.

For more information and ideas on how to get involved, take a look at these articles from GOOD Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.
